Emerging Technologies: Automated Whole Building Diagnostics

Although most building HVAC systems maintain basic levels of functionality, many do not perform as intended because of a wide range of faults that compromise their effectiveness, degrade climate control, and increase energy consumption. An automated whole building diagnostics (AWBD) tool is a software program that takes a top-down approach to diagnostics to detect excess energy consumption of the whole building and its major systems, such as HVAC, lighting, and large refrigeration systems.
