ASHRAE Takes on Energy Standard

This article is a tribute to the 150 volunteers who produced the first Standard 90, often on weekends and often at their own expense. Thirty-five years ago, prompted by the global energy crisis, ASHRAE developed and publish energy standard 90. The standard has greatly reduced energy consumption and emissions, and also provided the foundation for Standard 189.1. It is also a tribute to the author, Rod Kirkwood, P.E., Presidential/Fellow/Life Member ASHRAE who died May 6, 2010.
