Makeup Air Heat Recovery: Saving Energy in Labs

Although a new science facility at a nearby college was only a fraction of the total conditioned building area on campus, it doubled the campus’s central plant utility output. To avoid a similar problem with the new Integrated Natural Science Center at Haverford College in Haverford, Pa., the designers developed an approach that incorporates heat recovery devices into the makeup air units.
